Noiduin (I cast a spell) is a Finnish Dark Folk act hailing from Pori on the western coast of Finland. Drawing inspiration from Finnish mythology and folklore, their music fuses self-built traditional instruments such as jouhikkos, kanteles, war drums and rattles with myth, atmosphere and raw emotion, creating a truly otherworldly sound.
The project began in 2020 when multi-instrumentalist Jemina Kärvi started crafting and playing her own jouhikko, inspired by artists like Pekko Käppi and Einar Selvik. What started as a personal experiment quickly evolved into a full musical vision, resulting in the debut EP Korven kolkon kainalossa (2022). During this process, she teamed up with Henri Virolainen, whose deep roots in Finnish folk and metal led him to join the project. Their second EP Alinen (2023) deepened their connection to Finnish mythology and dark folk aesthetics. As demand for live shows grew, Noiduin expanded into a full live band.
In 2025, they released their debut full-length album Lovi, further refining their sound and lyrical world. That same year, their music was featured in the official “Call of Duty: Warzone & Black Ops 6” Season 4 trailer through Bjorth’s “Svinfylking” feat. Noiduin. Noiduin now continues to enchant audiences with their handcrafted instruments and mystical dark folk, bringing ancient Nordic and Finnish sounds into a contemporary form that honors tradition while forging its own unique path.
